Holographic TV
Summary
The biggest obstacle to 3-D holographic TV is the need for a re-writable and erasable system with memory. Holographic TV needs to be re-written and updated multiple times per second, and at the moment it takes several minutes for a system to update. Once perfected, this technology can make, for example, watching a baseball game from different angles a reality.
Holographic 3-D TV will differ from today’s 3-D movies. Today, the 3-D shown allows the viewer to see only two perspectives. One eye sees one polarization, the other sees the other polarization. This tricks the brain into blending the two perspectives into a seamless, moving 3-D display. With holographic 3-D TV, each person would have a different view of an object than the person sitting next to them.
