Summary
If you had one ounce of antimatter, and if you annihilate it with one ounce of ordinary matter, it would give you an amount of energy equivalent to one million tons of rocket fuel. Anti-matter is being made by human beings; right now at a US government lab outside Chicago. Fermi Lab is home to experiments in controlling antimatter. Its mission is to do high-energy physics research. High energy physics research tries to understand the forces of nature at the smallest distance scales, which require the subatomic particles to go very very fast. Fermi Lab operates one of the world’s highest energy particle accelerators, called the tevatron. With this, scientists make particles of anti-matter.
