Summary
In the arena of modern warfare, chemical agents/ weapons are the next big thing. This is primarily because there is an immense possibility to inflict huge damage to your adversaries. Amongst all the chemical agents, the nerve agent VX is thought to be the deadliest. Within seconds of a person being affected by VX, symptoms like nausea and convulsions take over. Without emergency treatment; respiratory failure, paralysis and death can take over. The nerve agent VX or organophosphate is called a nerve agent because it attacks the nervous system. VX in its normal state is a tasteless and odorless liquid that can be absorbed through the skin. When heated, it turns into a lingering vapor. An extremely small quantity of VX is required for it to cause deaths of millions. Although chemical agents have been in use in warfare since the First World War days, VX was created in 1954 in the US. VX served as a deterrent to the Soviet Union during the Cold War days.
