Science of Sex Appeal
Summary
Why do a male and a female find each other attractive? What makes them get into a long term relationship? Answers to the above questions and many more such questions pertaining to sexual chemistry between men and women can be found in this video. According to anthropologist Helen Fisher, powerful evolutionary processes are responsible for the attraction between men and women. A similar reasoning is true for animals too. She further adds that lust, romantic love and attachment are the three basic sexual drives in the mating game. In a study carried out by her, she found out that on being shown a picture of a person with the opposite sex, men displayed more activity in the brain region associated with the integration of visual stimuli. While in women more activity was seen in the brain region associated with memory recall indicating that women prefer character over looks.
